2025 Women in Construction Week Feature - Zoe Kardasis-Sturtz, Edit Design Build Studio

Q1: What is your current role?
Partner at Edit Design Build Studio, LLC.

Q2: What do you enjoy the most about being a woman in the construction industry?
There is a strong group of talented, bright, and innovative women in this industry who have so much to share. I love connecting, learning, and being inspired by them.

Q3: How did you end up in the industry?
I attended Macalester College in the 90s and subsequently worked in various jobs over the years. When I purchased my first home in my late 20s, I caught the bug. I managed a couple of significant projects in that house and was hooked. I returned to Century College to get certified as a Kitchen and Bath Designer. This decision led me to my first job in the construction industry as a designer and sales manager. Then, in 2009, my husband, who was working in commercial architecture at the time, struck out on our own and started Edit Design Build Studio. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Q4: What advice would you give other women thinking about joining the construction industry?
Please, join us! It is a dynamic field with many opportunities, whether in management, the field, design, or the office. There is something for everyone. It is filled with new challenges, many learning opportunities, and other women looking to build a strong network! Join NARi, participate in a roundtable, meet new people, and make connections. Find a mentor.
