Role:  White Crane Construction recently celebrated our 22nd year as an award-winning design:build firm specializing in remodeling older homes primarily in Mpls/St. Paul and first-ring suburbs (website: whitecraneconstruction.com). We continue to grow and are looking for a dedicated, caring, and skilled Architectural Drafter to partner with our talented team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for residential remodeling, have a keen eye for detail, and proficiency in Chief Architect. This individual will collaborate with our design-sales team to take projects from on-site measure, into schematic development, and through final construction documents to ensure the success of our remodel projects. Strong communication skills are of the utmost importance as this role will play an integral part in creating construction documents that are used to indicate the scope of work and expectations of our clients, tradepartners, and team.
 
Reports to: Sales & Design Manager
 
Key Responsibilities and Duties of Architectural Drafter:
  • Perform on-site measures and as-builts utilizing Chief Architect software
  • Collaborate with our design team to develop creative and innovative solutions for remodeling and addition projects
  • Prepare construction documents including floor plans, elevations, sections/details, etc. utilizing Chief Architect software
  • Make revisions to drawings as needed throughout the design development process working with the project team, engineers, and our trade partners
  • Ensure all drawings comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant requirements
 
Candidate Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Architecture or Drafting is preferred or related industry experience
  • 3+ years of experience in residential construction industry
  • Proficient in Chief Architect & Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong background in construction methods and details, including an understanding of local and IBC building codes
  • Organized, thorough, accurate, and efficient in all work
  • Team-oriented, driven to succeed in a collaborative environment
  • Motivated and excited to learn and embrace project challenges
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. High level of professional maturity
  • Proven critical thinking skills and creative abilities
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for creating accurate and visually appealing drawings
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines
